Home Grown at Meredith Farm

New England Maple Syrup

The syrup collection process generally occurs during February and March when temperatures get below freezing at night and above freezing during the day. Our taps primarily use blue tubing, resulting in sap running from the trees downhill into our 275-gallon tank. Our tank is then picked up by a tractor or a backhoe and taken to the Sugar Barn. Once there, the sap is boiled down to syrup in the wood-fired evaporator, reaching a temperature of 219 degrees. Once we get the proper sugar content, we filter and bottle it to make our very own Meredith Farm Maple Syrup. Looking to grab a bottle of our Meredith Farm Maple Syrup? You can now purchase at Gil's Grocery Store (30 Main St, Topsfield, MA 01983) in Topsfield Center or by honor system at our farmstand at Meredith Farm. Here we also sell bags of wood and our Meredith Farm hats and bags.

About 100 acres of our 188-acre property are hayed. We grow Timothy hay with an ideal amount of clover. Our hay is not only used to feed our own animals on the property, it is also sold to a local farm. Although it can be a lot to maintain, we are quite proud to be a local source for some of the highest quality Timothy hay in New England.

Locally Produced Fresh Honey

Honeybees pollinate about 80% of all flowering plants in the U.S. Meredith Farm is working to help combat the declining bee populations across the country. Depending on the year, our bees can produce anywhere from twenty to one hundred pounds of honey.
